Manchester City 2 Norwich 3: Watch video highlights with the Etihad here - Daily Mail.

Sportsmail has highlights from each and every Barclays Premier League match this year - watch the latest action in the Etihad on the video player below...

CHRIS WHEELER: It finished 3-2 again and that was about the simply comparison. Manchester City were never travelling to match the incredible heights of last May, but it certainly wasn't meant to get rid of like this.

With no Roberto Mancini on the touchline and no trophies showing for a campaign that promised a great deal of, the fans roared their support to your departed Italian and next, bizarrely, turned on Aleksandar Kolarov.

After referee Mark Halsey called time in the season and his private career, the Bolton official was handed as warm an ovation as many of the City players who traipsed for the pitch on a instead forlorn lap of complete.

Perhaps the greatest shame at all was that a fine performance from Norwich in addition to a fantastic winning goal from Jonny Howson were overshadowed through the fallout from a weeks time of tumult.

This ended up being, after all, only City's second home defeat with the league in 48 mmorpgs. That record was inadequate to keep Mancini in a very job and he will not be the only one to purchase a disappointing campaign when City await the advent of Manuel Pellegrini.

The City players fly off in a post-season trip to Nyc this morning with an awful lot of futures in mid-air. Carlos Tevez's two-handed wave to your crowd when he was replaced by Sergio Aguero will conduct nothing to quell speculation of the fact that Argentine may have trialled his last game to your club.

WWE Extreme Rules 2013 Results: Brock Lesnar Beats Triple H and What This means.

With the Extreme Rules event upon Sunday night, Brock Lesnar not alone defeated Triple H with the steel cage match, but he also did so using his own sledgehammer vs him.

The hard-fought win to get Lesnar was made even more symbolic anyhow he left Triple H following your match: with his sledgehammer upon his chest and your partner's arms folded across this.

Yes, it took involvement from Paul Heyman to enable Lesnar to pick up the win, but Lesnar has now taken two out of three matches with the 13-time WWE and Earth champion.

As Mick Foley explained in the Extreme Rules post-show following on from the event, the two men should have one final match, but only if Multiple H puts something big exactly in danger.

The way things ended inside cage on Sunday night will be the way this feud must end. After SummerSlam, Triple H appeared to be he was ready to call it a job. Instead, he came back to meet Lesnar at WrestleMania up to 29.

After a win in the no-holds-barred contest, the rubberized match was set with regard to Extreme Rules. Lesnar has only had four matches in WWE since returning the night after WrestleMania 28. Three of have been against Three-way H.

It is time for Lesnar move on and face one another Superstars of the WWE. If Lesnar shall be part of WrestleMania 35, WWE would be smart to book him on a dominant run from at this point until then. Randy Orton and Sheamus are two opponents that one thinks of whom Lesnar could battle in the next several months.

Concerning Triple H, it remains to be seen how much more time his very part-time in-ring career goes on. As COO in the WWE, his responsibilities will grow on a rapid pace, and his time for a competitor should be basically done.

It's hard to imagine the last sight of Triple H's career being the sole with him laying over the mat the way your dog was at Extreme Recommendations. But he and Lesnar have put together a trilogy of complements the WWE Universe will remember for many years to come.

Jerry Lawler was asked before the match at Extreme Rules who had just about the most to lose in a match, and his effect was Triple H. He couldn't be wrong. Triple H has literally done it all in his career, he nothing to lose. Lesnar, even so, can move on while using victory and continue to be the pay-per-view draw that WWE knows she's.

The dust has compensated, and Lesnar is the man left standing after Excessive Rules. Between now and WrestleMania 30, his path of destruction is going to be widespread.

Biggest Questions and Answers for the LA Lakers This Offseason

Due to L.A.'s cap situation, there won't be much difference between next year's squad and the one that barely squeaked into the playoffs only to be annihilated by the San Antonio Spurs in round one.

The obvious move is a Pau Gasol trade, as discussed earlier. The right package of role players would actually help a Lakers team that sorely lacks depth, athleticism and floor spacing much more than Gasol could in his diminished role.

Los Angeles' front office will also have to nail free agency. The only contracts the team can hand out are for minimum wages, but there are several under the radar guys on the market who can make an impact for the Purple and Gold.

Dwight Howard could be a totally different player after putting another offseason between himself and the surgery on his back that hampered him throughout last season. Howard getting back to the level he was at two years ago would take the Lakers up a notch.

But really it all depends on the health of Kobe Bryant. The Lakers will be in a situation similar to the 2013 Chicago Bulls, who grinded out a moderately successful season that could have blossomed into a title run if Derrick Rose came back healthy enough to lead them through the postseason.

In that same vein, if Bryant is able to return to the form that got him named to his 11th All-NBA first team this season, the Lakers could go from run-of-the-mill playoff fodder to legitimate title contenders.

Preakness 2013 Victorious one: Oxbow Victory Means A lot more than Just Stakes Win.

Oxbow's impossible 2013 Preakness win was an extensive feat, but the victory in the 138th running at Pimlico Battle Course was about so much more than a horse winning a race.

Sporting 15-1 the chances, Oxbow spoiled any thinks of racing fans seeing a Triple Crown winner in 2013, as he cruised to your 1 3/4 lengths triumph over second-place finisher, Itsmyluckyday (h/t Liz Clarke of the Boston Globe).

Affirmed was the last horse to win the Triple Crown back in 1978, meaning it'll be at the least 36 years until everyone potentially see another Multiply Crown victor. Orb, the favorite to win the Preakness and winner within the 2013 Kentucky Derby, done the race fourth.

With Oxbow's first-place finish, Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas won his 14th Triple Crown racing win, giving him more wins than every other trainer. Despite Lukas' achievements in his profession, that it was quite some time since the famous trainer found success (via David Grening in the Daily Racing Forum).

Plainly, Lukas has a knack with regard to preparing his horses with the best of their abilities—a talent that has cemented him as a Hall of Famer and one of the best trainers throughout the internet business.

Hallway of Fame jockey Whilst gary Stevens, a 50-year-old grand daddy might I add, ended up of a seven-year pension to ride Oxbow with the winner's circle on Weekend, his first Preakness race since he finished 6th aboard Noble Causeway inside 2005 (h/t Preakness. com).

Stevens, who portrayed George Woolf with 2003's "Seabiscuit, " definitely boasted two Preakness Pins victories entering the 2013 event, having won in 1997 and 2001 aboard Silver Beauty and Point Given.

While the 138th running in the Preakness Stakes was surely one for ones ages, I think the historical storylines go beyond just an unexpected indy winning a race.

After all, it's not often that him and i see a trainer set accurate documentation for most Triple Crown wins ever sold or a 50-year-old jockey come out of retirement to bolster his standing for a Hall of Fame cyclist.

Jake Moyes says 'inner-devilment' can certainly help him succeed at Stansted United... - Telegraph. company. uk.

David Moyes spoke of the "inner devilment" driving him or her on, a quality of which gives him a chance of succeeding at Manchester U . s ..

He emphasised that his Everton team had be a little more expansive, another trait that will actually accelerate his acceptance at Old Trafford. So will Moyes's assertion which he has always sought to provide youth a chance.

Moyes has got two games remaining, vs West Ham United with an emotional Goodison Park tomorrow and next at Chelsea next day. There was a touch of grieving as your dog talked of his sadness at leaving Goodison even so the moving-on process was undoubtedly under way. During a half-hour discourse after exercise at Finch Farm yesterday, Moyes occasionally referred to be able to Everton as "they" rather then "we".

All eyes ended up on him, looking for confirmation that he is indeed a man of substance capable of acclimatising with the Everest challenge of taking care of Manchester United. Moyes is controlled, calm but clearly very alert to the life-changing decision he just made, a choice affected his whole family as well as him or her. The spotlight burns now.

He was polite, eloquent, honest, dealing at length which includes a clamorous media which had squeezed in the Finch Farm media room or space. Outside the gates, dish trucks straddled grass verges typically only the preserve with lost ramblers. It was a taste with the life that Moyes might soon lead, the intense involvement in Manchester United, a club using a global pull and agenda.

Moyes requested there be no questions about Usa. There were certainly virtually no direct enquiries about David Rooney or whether yet replace Patrice Evra by using Leighton Baines, but by using subtle prompting Moyes definitely revealed plenty about what United fans could hope. A manager with cravings for food, a team with a competitive style, a continued values in youthful talents.

Higher than him was the Everton saying, Nil Satis Nisi The best possible, helpfully translated into Simply The Best. That is normally what the 50-year-old craves.

"I might have got mellower that happen to be a bad thing, '' they reflected of his 11 yrs at Everton. "When you might be young, you're intense. I've not really lost the intensity but maybe Profit it in the perfect ways.

"With experience plus the comfort which I've felt around my job – I do not felt threatened because I had produced good players and a stable board – that has helped me mature together with develop. But I hope I've not really lost the inner devilment that i think I still possess within me. "

This attribute is most famously throughout the man he follows, Sir Alex Ferguson. "I grew up looking at Jock Stein and Sir Alex Ferguson, '' your Scot continued. "He [Ferguson] is someone I admired and, as the years have got gone by, competed vs, which was daunting enough with the years. Everybody has wonderful admiration for him.

"I don't think any kind of body ever thought that day would come when he would retire. He is superhuman. He will be sorely poor – and by a whole lot of managers. He would always communicate with them, have a quiet word with anybody which was out of work or commencing a job. "

Attack-minded ideas shaped Ferguson's game-plans and Moyes argued that Everton have developed under him. "I hope the characteristics have changed. What good managers can is you work in addition to prepare, you find a way of winning. Style is really important. You might have a superb style but if most people don't win then you probably find yourself underemployed. So you have so that you can win.

"With that is available development, confidence and the chance to bring in more desirable players, play in an increased style. Everton from the first years are completely changed to your Everton teams of right now. I hope the form has evolved and i am playing a brand which almost all people enjoy. "

More expansive? "It is that. '' But what within the absence of a trophy during her Everton tenure? "You've got to remember that the a decade's before I came in this case that Everton won only 1 trophy [the FA Mug in 1995]. You aren't talking about a membership with trophy-winning managers then.

"When I took over we were bobbing along not remote the bottom of a Premier League. Now, it's actually a club that, on Sunday, will still be competing to stay Europe. Everton are habitually competing for fifth, sixth, seventh. We've tried to hang in with Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea this year.

"It's tough every season for Everton to compete right on the top bar end. But they've brought in a few young players, develop these individuals, make them better. We've really brought the players with the Academy. That's fundamental. Lots of young players get a casino game at Everton. "

With arriving in 2002, Moyes described Everton being the "People's Club", a really popular comment. "People thought I have to have sat up forever, writing poetry, thinking of computer, but it was nothing like that. It was in the heart. If ever there would be a true statement, that it was that one.

"Hopefully on Sunday this fans will react such as they did when We first stepped through the doorway. You can never enlighten with fans. They service their team and I'd understand it if these people weren't happy.

"It's a challenging time for me and my loved ones. My family come to the games. It's planning to be hard for people. I enjoy Goodison. It's an old lady on the football stadium, which are usually raucous on its morning.

"It's been such a great part of my everyday life. The 11 years have never disappointed. Everton will often be very close to myself. I always hoped that when I left Everton I'd be ready to walk back through entry door – and beveled people by the hand. " He will. Moyes engenders value.

Gareth Bale switch to Real Madrid would suit the Tottenham forward, declares ... - The Independent

There has been considerable speculation about the future of the Wales international after Tottenham failed to qualify for the Champions League, with Madrid the most likely destination.

Quoted in the Sun, Ramos said: "Gareth Bale is a Real Madrid-quality signing. He has had an exceptional season. He can punish any team in the world and has the footballing qualities we look for in Madrid.

Bale rounded off a remarkable year on Sunday by scoring his 26th goal of the season, but his wonder winner against Sunderland was not enough to earn the club Champions League qualification.

The club are understandably keen to hold on to their star man and manager Andre Villas-Boas recently called on the forward to end speculation about his future by signing a new deal at White Hart Lane.

For now, the signs look promising for Tottenham fans. From his comments in the immediate aftermath of the victory over Sunderland, he seemed in no mood to abandon ship and head to Madrid.

Real Madrid 3-1 Betis. Saving energies for Dortmund... - Cristiano Ronaldo - Cristiano Ronaldo fan site

There wasn't much interest around this weekend's game between Real Madrid and Betis for La Liga, but the Merengues didn't facilitate and beat their opponents by 3-1. With next Wednesday's capital game in mind against Borussia Dortmund, José Mourinho rotated his team as he was expected to, but didn't relinquish playing with Cristiano Ronaldo for the full 90 minutes. The Portuguese star didn't score any goal this time, but saw Mesut Ozil getting two and still managed to assist Karim Benzema for his side's third goal, in the dying minutes of the game. The negative note from this Saturday's fixture was Marcelo and Luka Modric getting injured, which will most likely make them unavailable for this Wednesday's Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid live clash.

In games like these, everyone knows there's always a big chance of seeing a slow paced game. Real Madrid switched their back four completely, at the same time they saw Casemiro making his debut in the first team (a Brazilian youngster, who plays as a defensive midfielder for Real Madrid Castilla). In the other hand, Casillas remained on the bench as Diego López continues deserving Mourinho's confidence in the goal, Modric and Ozil got in charge of operating all the midfield actions and Callejón partnered up with Ronaldo and Benzema upfront. José Mourinho was well aware of the danger of rotating the whole team at once, so his intentions of keeping a few key players in the line-up for this fixture against Betis to offset the rotation effect were pretty clear.

Not unexpectedly, the first half was played in a very slow rhythm and without many goalscoring chances being created for any of the sides. Fortunately for the Merengues, Mesut Ozil would find a way to break the deadlock just before we arrived the half-time break, after a great combination with Karim Benzema on the right side of the attack. The German "maestro" collected a pass from his French teammate when he was already stepping into his opponent's penalty-area and easily tricked the goalkeeper with his body stance, making it 1-0 for Real Madrid.

With the Merengues on the lead, the second half didn't promise much in terms of providing a better display from the home side. Passing kept being predictable and Betis didn't seem to be strong enough to agitate things. The Whites would reach their second goal in the afternoon from a typical counter-attack play, where Cristiano Ronaldo showed up playing a center role in the build-up, as he assisted Karim Benzema for a left-foot finish when he had only Adrián in front of him. At that point (57 minutes played), it seemed the match's fate was already decided, as the visitors weren't proving of being capable of threatning Diego López at all...

Nevertheless and against all odds, a mistake from Ricardo Carvalho in the 71th minute, allowed for Betis to organize a fast counter-attack and to catch the Merengues' defense out of position. Nacho arrived late to close the gap in the middle and saw his sliding tackle clipping Betis forward on his right foot, as he was preparing to cut inside to finish the play. The referee pointed to the spot and Molina converted it, reducing the deficit to a single goal. Diego López still stretched his arms when attempting to reach the ball, but Molina's shot was just too strong and precise to be stopped.

Being only one goal away from coming out of the Santiago Bernabéu with one valuable point, naturally motivated and revitalized Betis for the last 20 minutes of the game. However, Ronaldo had a different idea in mind and before the referee's final whistle he would still pull a great play on the left, dribbling a defender and sending in a great cross to Callejón, who had been left all alone on the far post. The 26-years winger didn't connect well with the ball, but his shot ended up assisting Mesut Ozil for an easy tap-in already close to goal line and which sealed the deal for the Merengues with a 3-1 win over Betis. The entire football world will now focus at next Tuesday and Wednesday big clashes, with an exciting Bayern Munich vs Barcelona taking place at the Allianz Arena, and a thrilling Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid at the Westfalenstadion. If you're a neutral football fan, you probably couldn't have asked for a better semi-finals draw!

Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

German rivals Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are set to fight for the Champions League title. It marks the third time in four years Bayern are in the championship match of the marquee club event, while Dortmund are making their first appearance since 1997.

Dortmund weren't even a lock to advance beyond the group stage. They were stuck in the "Group of Death" alongside Real Madrid and Manchester City. Not only did they win the group, they didn't drop a single match against the elite competition.

From there, it was clear the Borussians were a legitimate title threat. Bayern have been in that category throughout after falling just short last season. FCB were downright dominant leading up to the final, eliminating Juventus and Barcelona by a combined score of 11-0 over four legs.

The clubs have already faced off four times this season. Bayern won twice—in the DFB Super Cup to start the campaign and in the DFB Pokal quarterfinals—while both Bundesliga meetings ended in draws. Dortmund hope their first triumph comes in the biggest matchup of them all.

Here's a look at all the key viewing information for the Champions League final, followed by some players to watch and a prediction for which club will capture the coveted trophy.

Lewandowski hopes to finish his second straight terrific campaign on a high note. The 24-year-old striker's biggest highlight, at least heading into the UCL final, was scoring four goals in the semifinals against Real Madrid.

The most amazing thing about the Polish international is his ability to dominate a match without extraordinary physical gifts. He won't be the fastest or tallest player on the pitch in the final, but he will outrun players for 50-50 balls and jump over them for headers.

It all comes down to effort. He's willing to do the little bit extra for 90 minutes, and it usually results in good things for Dortmund. The matchup isn't a good one for him, however. He's scored just once in the four matches against Bayern this season.

Bayern added Mandzukic last summer after a couple solid yet unspectacular seasons with Wolfsburg—an interesting decision considering the club already had Mario Gomez. It could very well turn out to be the move that puts them over the top in the Champions League.

The Croatian star has enjoyed a breakout campaign playing in front of the talented Bayern midfield. He scored 15 goals in 24 league appearances. His combination of pace and a deadly final touch has been a major problem for opposing back lines.

Mandzukic has been in a minor slump as of late, though. He's failed to score in his last four starts. So while he deserves to draw the start given his strong play overall, don't be surprised if Gomez gets a chance right after halftime if the Bayern attack is sluggish.

Lewandowski and Mandzukic often provided the final touch, but the reason these clubs are in the final is their midfield dominance. Both sides have been able to control the middle of the pitch—even against clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid—to spark their runs to the final.

Dortmund suffered a major setback when it was announced Mario Gotze, who will move to Bayern ahead of next season, would miss the final due to injury. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has been one of the top young players in Europe.

His absence will put immense pressure on fellow midfielders Jakub Blaszczykowski and Marco Reus, who will probably take over the central playmaking role. Although still a formidable group, Dortmund can't expect the same level of production without Gotze.

Bayern will likely counter with the trio of Thomas Muller flanked by Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. They combined to score five goals in the semifinal rout of Barcelona. Finding a way to contain them is the biggest key for the Borussians.

If Gotze was healthy, the advantage for either side from this terrific matchup would be minimal. The edge shifts clearly to Bayern since he can't play. It should be enough for Muller and Co. to control the match and capture the trophy.

Here’s A person Doing A Gazillion Consecutive Backflips On a Pogo-Stick And Apparently Setting A world Record.

Are you able to do 15 backflips inside of a row, on a pogo stay? Probably not, because this really apparently a world report. Just as everything online is true, everything upon reddit is doubly a fact.

Fantastic, but a better video is a less talented individual trying to accomplish this feat, and setting any record with the exact same opposite result: falling at his/her head 15 consecutive instances. I will get in it and report back.

2013 NBA Playoffs: San Antonio Spurs Will be the Blueprint for Excellence.

Not even a furious comeback through the Memphis Grizzlies—down by as many as 18 late in the 3rd quarter—was enough to tremble the ever-calm Spurs, exactly who prevailed 93-89 in overtime Monday night.

This is nothing new; we've grown accustomed in the past to the Gregg Popovich-led group imposing their will in the closing minutes of video game titles.

Still, they've been doing it for a really long-term. We expected the train's wheels to fall off three years ago, let alone it continue even today.

The Grizzlies came into the series as the sexy pick to go onto the NBA Finals and battle the Miami Heat for the NBA title. After their dismantling within the L. A. Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder, this only seemed logical. Especially as soon as problems the Golden Status Warriors presented the Spurs.

For too long their greatness moved unappreciated, their brilliance on together offense and defense described as boring.

It baffles me how one can come away from some sort of Spurs clinic and leave certainly not awestruck. It's basketball the way it's said to be played: the ball switching beautifully, players exactly where they're allowed to be, perfect execution.

Tim Duncan proved as just stated why he's the perfect power forward to ever step foot over the court, scoring six because of San Antonio's eight tips in overtime.

Tony Parker, while he struggled together with his shot—6-of-20 from the discipline for 15 points—found some other way to impose this will, dishing out eighteen assists to his teammates.

Still though, anyone that doesn't find the wizardry of Parker plus the uniqueness of Manu Ginobili entertaining in basic terms doesn't like basketball. The plays they make as well as the shots they hit are bewildering every so often.

Obviously this series is definately not over. Despite being off 2-0, the Grizzlies undoubtedly are a team that commands merely the best.

Whether or not a trip to the finals is in the cards is irrelevant. The fact remains that your other four trips are not properly valued.

It's time that this basketball community began giving the Spurs the dignity they deserve. After just about all, father time can solely be combated for too long.

The continued excellence that this Spurs have provided are going to be missed when they're gone. Now, if only that excellence is usually appreciated while they are currently here.

Life with the Championship: A season review, Part One.

Temporary guest contributor Michael Murray gets a look back on your 2012/13 season and looks at what Bolton Wanderers to push forward inside the 2013-14 season.

With Wigan Athletic's relegation revealed after their 4-1 defeat at Arsenal yesterday morning and Yeovil Town's 2-1 win over Brentford at Wembley within the League 1 playoff very last, the line up for the 2013/14 Championship season is nearly complete, the loser for the £120m match between Watford and additionally Crystal Palace will comprehensive the roll of clubs.

This line up will just as before include Bolton Wanderers, who just missed on a playoff berth looking for 2-2 home draw with Blackpool over the final day of the growing season, the only one with the last nine home games the Whites failed to win,. A late Anthony Knockaert strike for Leicester City gave them the coveted very last spot by virtue of goal difference.

It was for many of us fans, a typical Bolton Wanderers ending to a season which started along with much anticipation, was quickly loaded with a sense of resignation, was almost over the verge of descending inside relegation and ultimately ended in frustration after a fantastic late ascent up the Championship table.

Personally, I'm happy that we are going to be spending another season inside the Championship. I love the way in which close and competitive the division is, I love that we get 46 league games rather then 38, had some cracking away day regarding who the winner and felt almost every conceivable emotion a little league fan can feel throughout the course of the 9 month rollercoaster.

Regardless of this, I was gutted that we got so on the playoffs and missed from goal difference of everything. I would also had been extremely gutted if, had we qualified to your playoffs, we'd have did not win them. Maybe, from a personal standpoint it was for the most effective that we didn't quite make it.

The much-ancied Bolton Wanderers started the summer season under the stewardship associated with Owen Coyle, the man who'd overseen the clubs relegation from the top flight. Many supporters believed that your club should have made a big difference in the close period. I however felt that your club needed to maintain a level of stability and was content with give Coyle the chance to rectify the issues within the previous season. The campaign started out at Coyle's former club Burnley along with the ever generous Whites obliged their hosts by providing them a 2-0 victory in their cup final.

Unfortunately, after a very lacklustre start to life in the lower division and then a record of just 3 victories, 2 draws and 5 defeats, yielding a grand comprehensive of 11 points, in the first ten games, even the most ardent of supporters, like myself needed concede that a shift was necessary if we were visiting salvage anything from the summer season. The club also wanted to address the poisonous atmosphere amongst the supporters which it could be argued was transmitting through the terraces onto the using surface. I was one of the hardy souls who made their way to 'facking Millwall' for one more game of the Coyle regime and also the atmosphere that day amongst the travelling Whites is possibly not something I ever desire to be part of again.

Generally, the 600 or so who made the journey which day, as with the thousands who demand Reebok week in weeks time out, want the ditto. We want 11 players out on the field who a passionate, committed and willing to help fight for everything and so that they can take pride in carrying our white shirt. Unfortunately there exists differing view on ways to air these views, which brings me into the Millwall game. Some desired to voice their dismay for the regime, others, myself bundled, wanted to support the XI to the field. Miraculously it didn't come to blows but the level of confrontation between the two factions was reminiscent of those under the previous incumbent of the hotseat, he whose name is believed blasphemous around the corridors in the Reebok. We couldn't go on down that path. If you happen to add that feeling so that you can performances lacking fitness, fight, finesse and the penchant designed for conceding penalties, it was this combination which brought about the demise of Owen Coyle together with a 3 game caretaker stint meant for Jimmy Phillips, Sammy Lee and Julian Darby.

This 3 game spell took inside of a home game against Bristol City and trips to Wolverhampton Wanderers (not something we can easily say next season will bring) together with a day out in that North East at Middlesbrough. In addition, it brought a new sensation of optimism, vigour and frustration amongst the fans. The fantastic comeback next to Bristol after being 2-0 down was duplicated with a draw at Molineux, although it needs to have brought 3 points, and defeat at Middlesbrough each time a point should have recently been taken. Ultimately it allowed to remain the Wanderers with 15 elements from 13 fixtures, as well as a new man steering this ship, one Dougie Freedman, who'd started the season by guiding Crystal Palace on the upper echelons of your division. I've always desired to use the phrase 'upper echelons' I am like I've achieved an issue in life.

True Madrid Versus Borussia Dortmund: Preview and Predictions

Photograph credit to wallpaphd.com With the much-anticipated Champions League quarterfinals coming, the basketball world is keeping its collective breath for these next four games. While Bayern vs Barca easily qualifies as a conflict of the leaders, I personally am more intrigued by the Borussia Dortmund-Real Madrid collection that'll begin on April 24th. With Dortmund seeking more and more like destinyas staff and Madrid having more impetus than an increase, somethings gotta to give. So without any more Freddy Adu, here is my critique and prediction of this quarterfinal game. Since beating Barcelona twice in a week, it's been smooth sailing in the capital city. Ronaldo has been happy and Mourinho seems more and more prone to remain on the Bernabeu sideline next season. Every thing is pressing for this group and their quality of play locally and internationally shows this increased confidence. Also their adisastersa will work out well. When Castillas went down with a hand, all hope seemed lost for Madrid a' how could life keep on without their star and leader? But, Diego Lopez hasn't only met objectives but they have been surpassed by him, and now Madrid has a goalie battle for the first time in over a decade. With outstanding degree, Ronaldo rating an absurd eleven targets in the Champions League thus far, and a security that's improved with every game, this Madrid group is quite unique of the one Dortmund confronted in the fall. Has Borussia Dortmundas luck run out or can they continue their amazing run all the way to Wembley? After the wonder in Westphalia, Madrid never can count out this BVB squad, specially because Dortmund is playing with confidence; they beat Madrid after already this year, and they'll represent a difficult game for the Merengues. With among the most dangerous fighting trios in Gotz, Reus, and Lewandowski, Dortmund won't be afraid to fire up the speed and attack Madrid. But fighting often to prevent the opponents from developing chances and protecting the lead, BVBas safety leaves a little to be desired. But after creating an array of possibilities offensively, Jurgen Kloppas squad can afford to concede one or perhaps two goals. Both of these clubs deserve to be in the quarterfinals as they certainly are two of the best four squads in Europe. To begin with, Madrid certainly has the advantage in terms of scheduling, as statistically it is more beneficial to play the 2nd game at home. Logically, the away team only needs a close game with several road goals, and the pressure will be on Dortmund to make sure that doesn't happen. Needing to score goals in the home, BVB can come out flying in the first leg. Ironically, this may work to Madridas benefit. Los Blancos may counter like there's no tomorrow and hope that they can bend without breaking. Look for Dortmund to target almost all their assault on Madridas left flank, trying to repeated Galatasarayas achievement against Contrao. A couple of Diego Lopez saves a and later game from Borussiaas big three and the participants may keep Westphalia with a 3-2 report in Dortmundas edge. In Madrid, the overall game is going to be much slower. Dortmund will settle-back and make an effort to keep their one-goal advantage. But Ronaldo will prove to be a lot of and after having a slow first half, the Portuguese male oa war will put Madrid on his back. Madrid will win the series, 5-4 and the famous Real Madrid will visit Wembley.

A soccer fans have voiced! Here are the winners of the 2012-13 EPL Awards — together Readers' Choice Awards in addition to Editor's Choice Awards:

There are so many worthy candidates between the goal posts this season that this was difficult to choose a winner. You, your readers, gave the nod to Manchester United goalkeeper Brian De Gea, who was a worthy winner according to a dodgy start earlier this coming year. However, he turned your partner's season around in triumphant fashion.

The Editor's Choice Award went around to Sunderland and Belgium goalkeeper Simon Mignolet who was one of the main reasons why the Black Cats had the ability to stay up this months. Aston Villa's Brad Guzan was an end runner-up.

It was some of those bizarre seasons in a Premier League, especially inside first half, where there was so many defensive lapses by teams through the entire table. As the season happened, defenses solidified themselves, but there was still some players who rose with the top. In the Readers' Selection category, Leighton Baines received first place for her brilliant performances for Everton off the left wing (and their many exquisite goals from free kicks). Baines also received the Editor's Personal preference Award.

Gareth Bale had the most effective seasons for any British footballer within the Premier League in the latest memory. The only catch was whether to put him in the midfield and also striker category since he or she played in and using both throughout the time of year. We decided to place him inside midfield category, where he was facing some brilliant competition. In different other year, Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini or Santi Cazorla might had a fighting possibility to win the top honors.

Although it was easier to decide on a winner from the midfield and defender categories in this year's award, the question of who the most effective striker was during the season was much tougher so that you can answer. You, the subscribers, voted Robin van Persie being the best – by a few margin. But while Michu and additionally Christian Benteke were worthy contenders, the Editor's Choice Award goes toward Luis Suarez despite this horrible incident against Branislav Ivanovic. Suarez's performances in the pitch transformed this Liverpool side this summer, throughout the entire yr until his suspension.

After Manchester United sacrificed the title last season over the final day, we all knew that United may be more committed than ever to attempt to regain the title. What we didn't expect was the condition of consistency across the comprehensive season where Ferguson surely could keep his team heating on all cylinders even though injury problems and loads of rotation.

Based on his herculean performances throughout the entire season, there can be only one Player of the Year — Gareth Bale.

As we've seen this year, there's a massive difference between the average commentator and one of many world's best who may be working his craft for many years. Therefore, it's great to work out that the Readers' Choice Award is now to Ian Darke of ESPN, who will no for a longer period be commentating Premier Group matches for ESPN a result of the TV network losing a rights. It's a worthy achievements by Darke for his working hard throughout the season. While aging but wiser, the nod for any Editor's Choice Award goes toward Martin Tyler, who is still others in terms of his game. We never grow tired taking note of him, and it's always a pleasure to see his voice.

Gary Neville has taken his role as co-commentator to new heights shock as to, which has been highlighted by his performances with Monday Night Football with Sky Sports. While Neville sees the Readers' Choice Accolade, Stewart Robson gets your note for Editor's Choice Award winner thanks to his no-holds-barred opinion in addition to analysis during Premier League matches.

The recipient in the Editor's Choice Award meant for Best Radio Show is usually Andy Goldstein's Sports Standard, which features a nighttime talk show between Goldstein and Jason Cundy and special guests including Noel Gallagher and there are more.

The gold standard for soccer podcasts, A Guardian's Football Weekly podcast, is knocked off its perch along with surprisingly has won zero awards the year 2010. It's been overthrown by Men In Blazers who have won this particular year's Readers' Choice Accolade. For the Editor's Selection Award, there's a surprise successful with the Beyond The Pitch podcast picking the recognition as an intelligent and informative podcast that is the must-listen.

It was a detailed race between the Merseyside podcasts of Followtonians plus the Anfield Wrap, but Followtonians has won the gold and allows been named Readers' Choice winner. Meanwhile, The Spurs Demonstrate to, despite being without Phil Cornwell for almost all the season, still manages to acquire the Editor's Choice Award because of its brilliant guests and consistently entertaining discussion.

A podcast business presenter can either make or break a show. The good thing is, the Men In Blazers podcast — winner with this year's Readers' Choice Award — was in very capable hands thanks to Michael Davies. At one time, another accomplished host is Anto through the Beyond The Pitch podcast who has got won the Editor's Solution Award for his brilliant interviews and informative conversation.

The Men In Blazers podcast keep increasing in popularity with basketball fans, especially Stateside, hanging upon Roger Bennett's every expression as he waxes poetically on the subject of break dancing, Kung fu dealing with, Downton Abbey and a English Premier League. Subsequently, Bennett is this year's recipient of the Readers' Choice Award in addition to Editor's Choice award.

For transfer news along with the latest stories, Caught Offside is almost certainly a popular destination for soccer fans. Not shockingly, the site has won this year's Readers' Selection Award. Meanwhile, Yahoo's Dirty Tackle consistently delivers a day-to-day dose of irreverent news and off-ball stories, and additionally deservedly wins the Editor's Solution Award.

In this year's Readers' Selection Award, the Manchester United blog Republik of Mancunia came from behind to beat a Swansea City SCFC2 weblog. The Editor's Choice Designation, meanwhile, goes to Everton's ToffeeWeb.

The biggest Thing in College Football? Literally, Tennessee's Daniel McCullers.

Tree-trunk legs with a waistline that might be chest-high for most. An upper body that made the Virtually no. 96 look remarkably due to scale. Just mass, limitless mass, and a low-cut jersey that can serve as a gown for many people mere mortals.

The legend of Tn defensive tackle Daniel McCullers and his incredible physical presence has exploded since this image surfaced. Others photos have put into practice, each just as hard to be familiar with. With a season inside the SEC under his gigantic belt, however, the likely of college football's leading being remains a mystery.

On his official Tn bio, McCullers is stated at 6'8" and 360 lbs. This is actually all the way down from his playing weight last year—around 380 pounds—but much heavier than his active senior offseason trim.

"Man Mountain / hill, " "Mount McCullers, " "Big Dan" and additionally "Ton DMC" (clearly the winner in the bunch) are just a good number the nicknames that McCullers provides acquired since arriving with Knoxville. And while they still apply, McCullers is below a 350-pound mark for the first time since his freshman season.

More specifically, for the first time since his freshman year of high school, McCullers is down less than 350 pounds. Calling him or her "big" doesn't do him justice.

"I've covered the SEC for all but a few years since 2000 and he tops every one of them, " said Wes Rucker, senior citizen writer at GoVols247 exactly who still marvels at each Tennessee practice. "He will make 6-4, 300-pound linemen be like linebackers. It's amazing. "

If ever the name Daniel McCullers is a new comers to you, you're likely not alone. After spending his freshman along with sophomore seasons at Atlanta Military College, he utilized in Tennessee before his jr season.

While his size is actually well known, the rest is not. Scouts and coaches have had a difficult time evaluating McCullers because his dimensions have yet to pan out to consistent dominance along the defensive front.

247Sports had him rated for the reason that No. 41 JUCO player plus the No. 6 defensive attend to. He recorded 37 tackles, nine for loss, in addition to two sacks in their final season at Atlanta Military Academy while becoming recruited by former Tn coach Derek Dooley.

Taking part in under Dooley, his figures were comparable against much-improved level of competition. In 12 games for Tennessee, McCullers recorded 39 discusses (including eight against Georgia), five-and-a-half for loss then one sack.

On one play especially in the game with Georgia, his unbelievable likely was on full showcase. Although Aaron Murray completed the pass for any substantial gain, McCullers bulldozed Georgia's 300-pound target, moving him like a shopping cart with a bad table.

His 2012 season was a good all round foundation considering the critical upgrade in talent. Always, his ceiling is still due to sight. His play (and effort), by the accounts of his motor coach buses, still isn't always where it really should be.

New Tennessee head coach Butch Jones is hoping this talent has focus. McCullers is keeping his weight down in an effort to improve his conditioning, and expectations are starting to build.

As both Butch Jones in addition to defensive line coach David Stripling push him, hoping which he realizes this potential, McCullers is doing what he has usually done: quietly go approximately his business.

"He's a really wonderful kid, but he's incredibly soft-spoken and hates drawing attention to himself off the arena, " Rucker added. "You be required to strain to hear him or her. I never imagined a really big guy would have a really quiet voice. "

Tennessee isn't concerned with his demeanor. Instead it's relying upon McCullers to help end the run, something that's problematic a season past. The Vols ranked 87th with run in 2012, providing 4. 75 yards per carry and abandoning 25 touchdowns on the floor.

The defense is undergoing just one more overhaul, switching to a much more traditional 4-3 front compared to the 3-4 run underneath former defensive coordinator Sal Sunseri. Designed for McCullers, this will means opportunities being more than just some space-eater. He'll have opportunities to disrupt, and a rapid influx of batted balls wouldn't be a surprise, either.

ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper has McCullers ranked being the No. 4 defensive tackle in the united states and No. 43 all around on his yearly major board. Other scouts and draft analysts will doubtless be fascinated with this unique prospect simply because of his size. If they can back it up with improved play, the buzz might enormous.

"Some people believe that he's a first-rounder. I'm sure that remains to certain you're seen, but he's really a better athlete than most families probably imagine, " Rucker mentioned on his draft possibilities. "When he wants to look fast, he's not impede. NFL teams will note that. Many already have witnessed it. "

Just the amount McCullers improves during his senior year are going to be telling. His improvement could mean a quick start for a program that would love to add wins and early success to your recent recruiting momentum. It would also mean an added bank checking account boost for McCullers appear next spring's NFL write.

Whether or not a slimmed-down McCullers finally attains his potential this fall remains being seen, although he's one to be mindful of in the SEC.

Florida Football: Discipline Will Be Key for the Gators in 2013

If the Florida Gators want to have a season as successful as their 2012 campaign, they will have to improve in a variety of areas.

Jeff Driskel's performance at quarterback, a lack of depth at wide receiver, a brutal SEC schedule and key losses on defense are all being looked at as possible trouble spots. The Gators will have to overcome these obstacles in order to remain competitive.

You can certainly pin some of the blame on Will Muschamp and his staff for the Gators' offensive woes throughout the season and poor performance in the Sugar Bowl. However, they have repeatedly been forced to deal with an avalanche of costly penalties on both sides of the ball.

Since the 2009 season, the Gators' average of penalty yards per game has risen every calendar year. Last season's average of 68.8 yards marked a 9.3-yard jump from that of 2011.

This makes their 2012 BCS run seem all the more remarkable. Their defensive unit had to repeatedly follow up stalled offensive drives with momentum-shifting series in order to turn tight games in their favor. Without this effectiveness, they could have easily lost three or more games during the regular season.

That brings us to this season. With so many departures from the defensive side of the ball, the Gators will have to score more points in 2013 to continually remain competitive. This cannot happen if holding violations and false starts repeatedly put Driskel and the offense in a bind.

Likewise, Florida cannot afford to give away extra points to opponents on the heels of silly personal fouls and other defensive violations.

Last year, we saw the Gators at their best when the flow of the game was relatively quick. They would get in a rhythm, and one big play would follow another.

Driskel is certainly under enough pressure already. He doesn't need to deal with 3rd-and-longs that resulted from undisciplined penalties. Furthermore, his receivers should not have to feel like they need to make a huge downfield play just to move the chains.

Finally, Muschamp and Brent Pease need to believe that the entire playbook is always available for use. They cannot afford to protect Driskel with safe passes and hand-offs on third down.

Yes, they need to play better football and make more plays. However, they also need to stop inflicting wounds upon themselves.

When they prove that they can do this, more and more people will begin to recognize them as a legitimate national contender.

In the early rounds with the fight, Cotto was able to outbox his relentless opponent. But all the when you got the sense this Margarito's pressure and activity were planning to wear down the Puerto Rican legend.

By the middle with the fight, Margarito began to help seize control, landing hard and thudding punches to help his opponents face in addition to body. As Cotto started to slow down, his face begun to bloody and bruise in disturbing fashion.

Finally with the 11th round Cotto experienced taken enough punishment along with after rising to his feet looking for a knockdown, his face a bloody mess, the struggle was stopped. But subsequently, it has received a particular asterisk, with many believing Margarito cheated his way to victory.

Teixeira Is More than Hype; Should Get 'Shogun' with Conquer Te Huna.

If perhaps Glover Teixeira's hype were a publicly traded stock, then Jim Cramer could be screaming like a madman to own it bullishly.

Since making the jump on the bright lights of a UFC, Teixeira has slowly accumulated a head of steam within the light heavyweight division. And during that time, the Brazilian proceeded to go from a relatively unknown entity to somewhat of a budding star on the world's biggest MMA period.

After Teixeira destroyed Fabio Maldonado within his second bout from UFC 153, it appeared that she was set for a collision course using a potential contender.

In a post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White colored told MMA Weekly where Teixeira stood within the division, stating that, "He's going to have to fight one of several top guys before we start having a debate about title shots. "

Within January, Teixeira chalked in place a decisive unanimous-decision win over former light heavyweight samsung champ Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. The fight gave him a win over an opponent with marquee identity value, but it is disingenuous to say that "Rampage" was at top form.

Regardless of that concession, Teixeira's performance alone should have earned him the possibility to be paired against some legit top-10 opponent with his next fight.

Originally, Teixeira was supposed to defend myself against Ryan Bader at UFC one hundred sixty, but Bader pulled straight from the fight with an unspecified injury. Now he is reserved to fight James Te Huna in the third fight of this pay-per-view card.

Te Huna happens to be riding a four-fight win streak inside the UFC. Most recently, he thumped Ryan Jimmo in a pretty lopsided bout, but that certainly doesn't put him in the upper echelon of that division.

If Glover Teixeira is a No. 4 light heavyweight in the UFC's official standings, in that case why on God's earth-friendly Earth is he battling the unranked Te Huna?

Even if one believes that Teixeira's setting is over-inflated, this fight still makes certainly no sense for him. Just what does he achieve when he beats Te Huna? Not a single thing.

At best, it can be described as lateral move for Teixeira. A victory puts him no nearer to getting a crack in the belt. On the some other hand, a loss would be devastating to his brand hopes, especially given the truth that he's already 33. This is the no-win situation.

Right now, Teixeira exists in your nebulous world of boasting. People are buying into the promise. The Brazilian indicates glimmers of greatness, but it's impossible to know if for real without the dog actually fighting a top-level person. Until that happens, the rest is purely conjecture.

The UFC has to stop messing around allow Teixeira an opponent that could put his skills for the test. Then fans will eventually see if he has what it takes to be a serious contender in the light heavyweight division.

A matchup with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua would be perfect follow-up for Teixeira when he runs through Ght Huna on Saturday.

"Shogun" is already set to take on Antônio Rogério Nogueira with UFC 161 in June. This fight is a rematch on their battle in the 2005 Self-importance Middleweight Grand Prix quarterfinal.

Teixeira and Rua also already have got a "history. " This is caused by Rua supposedly stating—according to Dana White within a postfight UFC on FX interview—that he would prefer to be cut within the UFC than fight Teixeira from UFC on FOX 4. Rua disputed that in the interview with Tatame that's reposted on SB Usa.

[Teixeira's] not top 10. But then we made available him Brandon Vera and he took it with two seconds – and Vera isn't top either.

Now nearly 12 months later, the two fighters end up in similar positions. Teixeira is riding some sort of 18-fight win streak and "Shogun" is sporting a list of 3-4 in his last seven bouts; then again, they are in your mix at 205.

The fighters would bring similar styles to the Octagon. They are both efficient strikers and submission artists which includes a combined 36 finishes between them. "Shogun" has been linked to some epic wars around his career, and a fight with Teixeira has each of the makings for another traditional.

A win over "Shogun" would probably still probably put Teixeira one or more more quality fight far from a title shot, but it would go a considerable ways in proving that he is more than just buildup.

And if Teixeira are able to finish Rua in striking fashion, it will be difficult don't consider him a true force to be reckoned with in that light heavyweight division.

The UFC announced using Twitter on Tuesday that light heavyweight bout pitting ex - champion Rashad Evans next to former Strikeforce and Golden technologies champion Dan Henderson will now take the most crucial event slot at UFC 161.

UFC officials also validated with Bleacher Report that new main event might be a three-round fight. Typically many main events (even non-title fights) are generally scheduled for five units, but because Henderson together with Evans are bumping close to the headline spot upon short notice, their struggle remains a three-round attack as scheduled.

Barao suffered torn ligaments in his foot that forced him using his scheduled title fight top contender Eddie Wineland, plus it left the UFC in a precarious position with lower than a month to set off until UFC 161 develops on June 15 around Canada.

The UFC has now turned to the co-main event over the card to fill a headline slot with Evans taking on Henderson in a light heavyweight showdown.

Evans returns to stage at UFC 161 pursuing back-to-back losses in his last two fights in reference to his eyes set on payoff. The former UFC lighting heavyweight champion suffered a defeat at the hands of his former teammate Jon Jones at UFC 145 not too long ago, and followed that up with a lackluster performance against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in February also.

Now Evans has a chance to get back on the horse again and make contact with his winning ways which has a main event bout alongside a legendary multi-weight category champion.

For many yrs, Dan Henderson has been considered one of several top pound-for-pound fighters in the world with a willingness to literally tackle all challengers. He was both your middleweight and light heavyweight champion when Pride Fighting Championships was bought out in the past, and went on so that you can capture the Strikeforce light heavyweight title too.

Henderson even managed to enhance to heavyweight for your bout against iconic heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, and the Team Quest fighter won by knockout inside the first round.

Robert Griffin III's Father Wants Son to Chuck More, Run Less.

When suffering torn ligaments in his knee in the Washington Redskins' postseason loss to your Seattle Seahawks and in the process of offseason surgery, Robert Griffin III's father has end up and said his son ought to be throwing the ball more and running less.

Robert Griffin Jr. told Dave Sheinin in the Washington Post that he believes his son should be able to utilize his receivers more with his rushing attempts limited this current year:

I just know that determined by what I know Robert is able to do, he doesn't have to be a runner as much when i saw last year. Opinion, you're paying these [receivers] a ton of money to catch the sports. I'm his dad—I prefer him throwing that hockey, a lot. A ton.

I think for [Griffin III], he likes examples of the things that they undertake. And he feels any area where he a concern, he tackled it. And I believe [the Shanahans] have problems, too. We want to possess a united community. That to begin with year everybody was only just, "Wow. " And now we have to look at sustainment. It can't be a "Wow" again.

As a father, the elder Griffin provides every right to try to get the safety of her son—the more RGIII runs, the more likely a further serious knee injury may occur.

Griffin ran the ball 120 times meant for 815 yards last time of year, but with a effective running back like Alfred Morris, RGIII's father is to certainly question why there were a multitude of rushes with the quarterback. Cut those attempts by 50 percent, and the team still comes with effective weapon with a better chance of staying good for 16 games in addition to beyond.

The Redskins have their own point of view and the ultimate contact which plays are used, and they know the team is much better with RGIII on this field. The team also knows the way dynamic having a mobile quarterback may be for an offense.

When watching the rookie heave for 3, 200 showrooms, 20 touchdowns and just five interceptions, Washington knows what RGIII's arm is able of accomplishing.

While there is simply no questioning that RGIII is a superb running quarterback, there is also no questioning the total amount damage he sustains functioning the ball and how which will affect his long-term status along with the franchise.

The good news for all involved is that Griffin is on the field for ones Redskins doing some giving drills, just two steps faraway from a full recovery, as reported by NFL Network's Albert Breer:

There is absolutely no doubt that RGIII's ability to carry the rock makes him an unusually dangerous threat, but in the future of the Redskins company, running the ball with the quarterback less will decrease the chance that he will acquire severely injured again.

When trading the team's Virtually no. 6 overall pick within 2012, its second-round pick in 2012 as well as its first-round picks in 2013 and 2014 to obtain the franchise quarterback, keeping him healthy really should be a top priority.

Fulham 1 Liverpool 3 | Tactical Fit Report - EPLIndex. com : English Premier League Index - Opta Stats.

Concerning Sunday West Londoners Fulham managed Liverpool at Craven Holiday cottage in match of a few halves – yup, which old cliche. Liverpool transpired in the 33rd instant, but they wasted no time in equalizing through their superb January signing, Daniel Sturridge. Half-time tactical improvements by Brendan Rodgers shored upward Liverpool's defense, and they began to catch Fulham time and again on the counter.

Sturridge acquire thrived in this match, earning his first top-quality league hat trick. With his 10th goal for Liverpool, Sturridge has now scored more goals in his first 13 appearances than every other Liverpool player in heritage.

In the first one half, Liverpool fielded something associated with experimental formation. No doubt it's partially born out involving necessity: Gerrard, Suarez, together with Agger, a trio involving regular starters, were all of unavailable. As this positioned major gaps in a good defense, midfield, and attack, Rodgers after that had room for younger squad members in Knowledge, Coates, and Shelvey to step into the side.

Fulham played ones own standard 4-4-1-1. Ruiz protected Berbatov in attack, while behind the 2 main major forward players were two typical banks of five in midfield and protection.

Overall, the match was even in terms of team statistics. Liverpool hardly edged possession at only 51. 5%: a negligible margin. Each of those teams passed at 88% consistency overall. Liverpool only had 5 more passes in the final third than Fulham (117 to help you 122) respectively. It does indeed not get more even that this.

But, the cutting significant difference is chance creation. Fulham got here up short with only just 5 chances at mission to Liverpool 13. Despite the fact that both teams were completing at similar rates, clearly the movement of Gatwick created more opportunities for scoring.

Within the outset, the match an exceptional back-and-forth flow to it. Liverpool created a number of chances early on, but nothing came to fruition. After nearly every attack in the Reds', Fulham found space to launch their own personal offensive effort.

Fulham pressed superb, and the midfield became a cluttered mess with many players in the two jerseys vying for breathing space. Liverpool's younger players looked liable to being caught out. Coates get hold of ventured forward in false situations and looked culpable.

Berbatov's opening goal is indicative of Liverpool's disorder within the back. Berbatov somehow were able to slip between Coates and Carragher without the need of resistance to easily brain home a cross. Coates looked to get marking the far post – a place where no Fulham player was found. Whether it was a lack of communication between Carragher as well as the Uruguayan or just in instances of utterly clueless observing is debatable, but no matter what, Liverpool did not look comfortable messing around with three centrebacks.

Rodgers responded to this disorganization by putting Enrique in for Wisdom, shifting Liverpool back to a familiar four with the back with two fullbacks. The shape looked something like that:

From the outset with the 2nd half, Liverpool seemed like a changed side. Carragher and Coates both looked more comfortable in deeper roles for the reason that two sole defenders. With the help of another player on your left flank, Downing was permitted to push both higher and additionally farther inward after switching for the right flank. It had something of an domino effect, as Coutinho was also capable to find more space down the left side of your pitch. Space between Coutinho and Sturridge was reduced, plus they were allowed to work in closer tandem.

This graph illustrates average player influence and positioning to contrast the earliest and 2nd half designed for Liverpool:

Carragher and Coates zero inward, shoring up this defense. Leiva was allowed a lot more central role in a less clustered midfield and his influence skyrocketed. Most important of all, perhaps, note the two main pairings of Enrique/Shelvey along with Johnson/Downing. These two partnerships created overloads to the flanks that did not exist inside first half, opening up space inside center for Coutinho in addition to Sturridge while Fulham's defense was handed width to worry on the subject of.

In this new contour, Coutinho came alive along with fashioned 4 chances, inluding your partner's magnificent assist for Sturridge:

Each of the second half goals were products of Liverpool's positional improvements, and the space all those changes created. Both goals involved Coutinho finding space inside the midfield. The first, inside the 63rd minute, was your jewelry of a deflected strike, but still involved Coutinho along with enough room to dribble within the final third. The other goal, in the 85th instant, was a fabulous help in which Coutinho had enough time to play a through ball to Sturridge.

Entire, Sturridge was in best form. 71% of this shots were on target, and 43% of these shots were converted. To help top it off, they averaged only 18 units between each shot on target.

Ultimately, a less cluttered midfield triggered more time and a lot more creative capacity. Sturridge was at fine form; it was merely matter of finding made the effort and space to create chances to your striker.

Karahounis is something to a release valve for Fulham. The moment under dangerous pressure, the Greek has a fantastic long pass that alleviates danger and quickly turns a defensive phase into attack. He is able to significantly trim Fulham's transitional phase and spark counter attacks.

In this match, Karagounis trialled 17 long balls, 11 which were complete. This was is often a highly impressive 65% achievements rate. Counted among your partner's passes were also 17 penalty area entries. It is usually interesting to note this his total tally from final third passes (20) printed that of Fulham's most advanced player – Berbatov.

The Greek may well be past his physical optimum, but he can definitely a source of power for Fulham to employ in matches they play to the counter.

All in just about all, it was an clever change of shape that will helped Liverpool gain much more space in midfield. This particular ensured better service with regard to Sturridge, who thrived when given the opportunity to finish. Fulham did not appear limp or utterly out from the match, but the increase in space by Rodgers' half-time modify allowed Liverpool's creative competitors to thrive.
