Birmingham United's Wayne Rooney covers Top Category wealthy record with A51m - Belfast Telegraph

By Man Aspin a 27 April 2013 Birmingham United's Wayne Rooney is the richest player in the Barclays Premier League with your own fortune of A51 million, according to the Sunday Times Sport Rich List. A year ago the striker, whose wealth has increased from A45m, is A9m better off than Manchester United team-mate Rio Ferdinand. Rooney and his wife Colleen are jointly worth A64m. The striker and centre-back Ferdinand are two of 24 recent Premier League people one of the 100 richest athletes in Great Britain and Ireland, in line with the list which will be published tomorrow. Brian Beckham obviously tops the lot with a A165m bundle. Michael Owen (A38m) is third one of the Premier League people, ahead of Ryan Giggs and Frank Lampard (both A34m). Six Manchester United people are on the record, including Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick and Robin van Persie, who's a brand new entry with A12m. Steven Gerrard is Liverpool's richest player with a A33m fortune, with Carlos Tevez (A18m) the richest Manchester City player on the record. But their prosperity pales in comparison to that particular of former England captain Beckham, now using Paris St Germain, who is the richest athletes in Britain. He sits 11th on the Sunday Times World Sport Rich List, which can be headed by Tiger Woods, worth A570m. Beckham's joint success with wife Victoria is rated at A200m. There are two different footballers on the world top 20, Barcelona's Lionel Messi, worth A125m, and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, worth A120m. The Rich List is founded on recognizable prosperity, including property, house, other resources such as art and racehorses, or important shares in publicly quoted companies. Bank accounts are excluded by it.
