Kenseth calls harsh charges 'really unjust'

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) a Matt Kenseth says NASCAR's penalties against his team are "grossly unfair" and "borderline shameful." Kenseth's group was hit with a number of the harshest penalties NASCAR has given out Wednesday after his race-winning motor at Kansas failed the post-race examination. He says one of eight connecting rods on the engine was too light a by 2.7 grams. Kenseth was docked 50 driver things in the standings a' two a lot more than he gained for the victory. But he says he is angrier concerning the penalties directed at Gibbs and crew chief Jason Ratcliff. Six weeks both were stopped. Gibbs also had his operator points icy, and Ratcliff was fined $200,000. The factors fee dropped Kenseth from eighth to 14th in the rankings.
