To the Semis Barca Go: Takeaways and a Forward for FC Barcelona - Bleacher Statement

Manager Tito Vilanova's men held down the Camp Nou as Barcelona moved on to the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League following a 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night. With a 3-3 combination scoreline, BarAa moved on via absent objectives. Barcelona became the first team to achieve the European Cup semifinals in six consecutive years. Xavi very nearly got the score started in the second minute as his free stop just went left of the web. A good shot was taken by lucas Moura at Victor Valdes in the moment, but Valdes was at the right place to make the end. Ezequiel Lavezzi had a wonderful opportunity in the 24th minutes as he we inside the box with Valdes, but he held his ground and made the big save. Moura had another good picture in the minute as Zlatan Ibrahimovic made the corner to the ball was headed by the Brazilian, who toward the web, but Valdes again made the regular save. Valdes saved Hamilton Academical Barcelona for the night time. He has to be convinced to keep at BarAa. In the second half, Javier Pastore won in the moment, using his left foot and getting it past Valdes for the 1-0 lead. Once more, the unreliable BarAa defense threw in the towel a counterattack purpose. Lionel Messi came on in the minute, as BarAa were trying to find the goal. Marc Bartra came on as well as he changed an injured Adriano. Pedro tied the overall game in the 71st second. It was threaded by messi to David Villa, who then gave it to Pedro, and the Canarian put it high and right, past the outstretched arms of PSG goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, for the equalizer. Tremendous opportunity by Pedrito, and great setup by Leo and el guaje as well. It was a mad scramble until the conclusion, but Barcelona could actually carry on and moved on to semis. FINAL: Hamilton Academical Barcelona 1 - 1 PSG. (AGG: 3 - 3 )* *FCB progress on absent goals. Let's have a look at my takeaways and other topics "From The Mind of Xoel" as FC Barcelona progresses to the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League. Adriano Out...again David Ramos/Getty Photos While I do appreciate Adriano's all-out toughness, I do not believe he deserves to be re-signed by Barcelona. Adriano is a superb utility player. He is able to perform defense, forward and even in the midfield. But up to I like him, the person is as a cat as vulnerable. He continues to experience thigh and hamstring injuries. Sandro Rosell must reconsider increasing Adriano's contract. Could this group rely on him being regularly available from now until, let us say, 2015? I had say no. There are plenty of good, young players at La Masia like Carles Planas, who deserve to be called around the very first group. Sorry, Adriano, I love you, but you're injury-prone, and I just do not believe you merit a contract extension. Your harm against PSG just confirms what all of us already know. Don't Count out Pedro for the Rest of the Champions League Run David Ramos/Getty Pictures where I stated that Pedro had a need to intensify since Lionel Messi was more than likely not going to start against PSG the other day, an article was written by me. I stated that he needed seriously to perform like he does for the Spanish National Team. And by "perform," I mean "score goals." Pedro has scored more goals (10) in ten matches for Spain this year, than in his 37 matches for Barcelona (eight goals). It was time to report for Barcelona. Mission accomplished. Yes, he's his moments where he doesn't have the goal-scoring impact we had like for him to be, but Pedro Rodriguez continues to be one of the best wingers in football, and his great contact on the goal advised us that no one must count out Pedro. He'll have to step-up in the semis, and beyond. Hopefully, the target against PSG will give Pedro more confidence to shoot first and ask questions later heading in to the semifinals. Marc Bartra: You Wanna Make the CB Spot? Listed here is Your Chance! David Ramos/Getty Images Marc Bartra played merely a few minutes against PSG, however for these few minutes, he played well. With BarAa heading to the semis, it's obvious that he Ais the sole logical option for the remainder of the UEFA Champions League plan. Adriano is going, and Alex Song isn't an all-natural CB. Because so many of you realize, Barcelona is going to be looking for a new center-back come early july. Names like Vincent Kompany and Mats Hummels would be the top two candidates. I have always been a big advocate of Hummels to Barcelona, but when a huge impact can be made by Bartra in the semis, he'll truly have to be considered whilst the center-back for next period. I am hoping he is in a position to earn it. Messi Must Rest for the Following Two Weeks Shaun Botterill/Getty Pictures When Javier Pastore obtained the goal for PSG, if Lionel Messi was going to come right into the overall game most CulAs straight away looked toward the Barcelona bench to see. It didn't just take long for Coach Vilanova to bring Leo into the game. Messi wasn't the Messi we're used to seeing. He was hindered by his injury greatly, and we were all very lucky that Leo did not re-aggravate his injured knee. What we're fortunate for is Leo surely could create the pass to David Villa who then helped Pedro for the target. Leo's presence on the frequency worried the PSG safety enough to open the door for the play. Following the sport, PSG Manager Carlo Ancelotti accepted that Messi's reputation helped BarAa work through the French team: "Messi gave his teammates more confidence, which is normal. He is an excellent player, even if he is perhaps not absolutely fit." (via @barcastuff). There clearly was a feeling of calm when Leo joined the overall game, but also Superman has to rest once in a while. With the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League starting on (depending on pull) April 23 or 24, do not be prepared to see Messi to perform against Real Zaragoza this weekend, and also against Levante on April 21. Vilanova should think about only enjoying Leo for some of the Levante game simply to loosen up and give some game action to those legs ahead of the Champions League semis. Who'll Face Hamilton Academical Barcelona in the Semifinals? Picture courtesty of Spherasports.com Therefore the big problem now is: Who'll be FC Barcelona's next opponent? We'll discover on Friday. For me personally, I want to see: Hamilton Academical Barcelona versus. Borussia Dortmund True Madrid compared to. Bayern Munich. What I really do not need to see is yet another ClAsico semifinal between BarAa and Madrid. If my nerves and thoughts can handle a repeat of 2011 I do not know. Although, I'd take 2011's result once more, please. Plus, I actually do not need to visit a German clAsico as well. Let us mix things up. Allow me to provide a specific congratulations to Cesc Fabregas, before I go. If the news wasn't heard by you, Fabregas became a father throughout the PSG game. His girlfriend, Daniella, gave birth to the couple's first son or daughter, Lia. It was a game against PSG, but FC Barcelona could hold on, and go on to the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League. The road to Wembley Stadium and the Champions League Final is merely one step closer. Xoel,ATheAVoice ofAFC Barcelona.
