Any snakes, vermin, critters and other beasts of the wild would be wise to stay clear of Patrick Willis and the home he is guarding vigilantly with a pellet gun.
Outside the Boxscore (h/t SportsGrid) spotted a Facebook post from the San Francisco 49ers' star linebacker Patrick Willis featuring his latest kill: a giant snake.
As of this writing, there are over 2,400 comments on this picture, and a great deal of them seem to have been typed out with the passionate keystrokes of a person wronged.
SportsGrid actually captured a nice portion of the debate going down in the comments section, which you can see below.
As you can plainly see, it isn't wise to shoot an animal and then post the pictures to Facebook, because half of the people will view it as the worst thing that has ever happened in the world. The other half will call the other half morons, and then we have what amounts to an Internet brush fire only cat videos and silly memes can extinguish.
We do agree with SportsGrid's Eric Goldschein in that whatever Willis does on his property to a snake is his business.
Go ahead and have a grand debate as to how snakes are the exact same thing as dogs, but leave me out of it. I, like Goldschein, wouldn't have shot the snake, even with a pellet gun.
I tell you what I would have done. I would have wept openly while calling for the police and fire department to rescue me from my house that was obviously under attack by slithering reptiles, and I have no qualms in telling you this.
Now, my reaction is far different than some of you who identify the snake as a harmless animal that was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
While you people are the same nuts who consider spiders to be cuddly, I will respect your opinions. With all of that being said, this is just further evidence that the Internet is just one big shouting match.
